Dear Faithful Friend,
We want to take this moment to wish those of you who celebrate Christmas a wonderful holiday and to all of you, a very blessed New Year. We know that December 25 may not the actual date of Yeshua's birth, but it is still wonderful to set apart a day to remember that God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten son to bring salvation to all who believe.
Although I was raised in a Jewish home, the celebration of Christmas was impossible to ignore. Neighbors decorated their homes inside and out and the towns and villages that surrounded us were all festively arrayed with Christmas decorations and lights. Most of the parks had manger scenes, my school always had a "Christmas Concert" and of course the stores had Christmas carols playing non stop and Christmas trees were everywhere.
Here is Israel the opposite is true. Although Yeshua came to Israel, and "to the Jew first", this Jewish nation is oblivious to His birth. When we first came here so many years ago, it was an experience to wake up on December 25 and have it just be another work and school day. There is no mention of the holiday and more importantly, no excitement or appreciation of His birth. Generally the only place you see it is on the evening news when they review the celebrations taking place around the world.
BUT WE DECLARE THAT A DAY IS COMING SOON WHEN HIS NAME WILL BE HONORED IN THIS NATION! The light of Messiah is shining ever brighter here in Israel. The number of believers and congregations has increased dramatically in the more than eighteen years that we have been here. Today our congregation shines with the light of Messiah. It is a light of the truth and it is shining forth in the heart of Jerusalem. In the past weeks we have shared the Lord with many people. When we meet unbelievers, we almost always bring the conversation to our faith and Yeshua's great love for them and Israel. We have invited some to come to our congregation. We have called unbelievers that we have met on the telephone to talk and broken bread with others.
We have shared our testimony of boldness to encourage others to share the life that God has put within them. We know and understand that God has entrusted the salvation of Israel into the hands of those of us who live here and are filled with His Spirit.
And we also know that we so appreciate you. Your support of Zion's Glory has helped to bring us to this expectant day. Although the battle is great, we are not discouraged. We have God, we have you and the fulfillment of God's promises are beyond doubt.
May the reality of His birth, His life and His death and resurrection fill you with joy and hope. And may the New Year that lies before you surpass all that you can imagine or hope for, as the awesome God we serve fills you with His immeasurable grace and love.
We send you our love from Zion,
